Sanitation Drives

Swachh Bharat Abhiyan

Inspired by Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, Being Volunteer started cleanliness drives in the year 2015. One of our country’s greatest strengths is its cultural heritage. Though it draws a huge number of tourists to these heritage sites every year, their cleanliness remains a grave issue, especially the plastic waste. The main objective of Being Volunteer was to ban plastic completely from heritage sites and have general cleanliness. It started to do its bit by organizing cleanliness drives in Pune. The first location covered was Sinhagad Fort where 9 cleanliness drives have been conducted till date. Many more such sanitation drives were done across heritage locations in Pune. 1000+ Volunteers have been engaged in these activities, from different colleges and companies. Due to the efforts taken by these volunteers, several dustbins were set up by the Govt. and the tourists were sensitized about the issue of plastic waste.

Wall Painting Activity

Through this activity, our idea was to find a creative outlet and, in the process, add some aesthetics and beauty to our cities and open environments by spreading messages of communal harmony and peace through the beautiful wall murals. Through wall paintings, our idea at Being Volunteer is to create maximum outreach and awareness. Our volunteers painted 1530 square feet of walls and contributed 413 hours to the cause.
